In a significant step towards bolstering socio-economic development in the Syunik region of Armenia, the European Union (EU) and Austria, along with the European Investment Bank and 10 other EU Member States, have launched the Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative. This joint effort aims to foster resilience and growth in the region through targeted investments and developmental projects.
Austria, a proud member of the European Union, is set to play a substantial role in advancing the goals of the Team Europe Initiative within the Syunik region. Presently, Austria has five ongoing projects in Syunik under this initiative, emphasizing its commitment to the region`s prosperity.
During the launch event, Andrea Wiktorin, Ambassador, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, and , Thomas Mühlmann, Ambassador of Austria to Armenia unveiled the Kapan project office of the Recovery, Resilience and Development for Syunik (R2D Syunik) program. This initiative, co-funded by the EU and the Austrian Development Cooperation, aims to facilitate the recovery and resilience of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) while also rehabilitating sustainable small-scale community infrastructures in Syunik.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Ambassador Mühlmann extended appreciation to Governor of Syunik Robert Ghukasyan for his hospitality. The Ambassador highlighted Austria`s eagerness to deepen its engagement in Syunik, emphasizing the commitment to foster sustainable development and prosperity in the region.
