Europe Day Celebration Highlighted the Impact of Team Europe Initiative

The recent Europe Day celebration held at Impact Hub Syunik in Goris showcased the transformative power of collaboration under the ``Working better together as Team Europe`` approach. The event brought together stakeholders and beneficiaries to commemorate the achievements of projects of this groundbreaking initiative.

At the heart of the Europe Day celebration in Goris, Armenia was the Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative. This joint undertaking involves the European Union, the European Investment Bank, and EU Member states including Austria, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, and Sweden. Additionally, Switzerland has joined as an external partner.

The main objective of this Team Europe initiative is to contribute to the sustainable socioeconomic and institutional development of the Syunik region, taking coordinated action in line with the development priorities of the regional and local authorities in the Armenia-European Union flagship initiative focusing on the area. The initiative is a flexible mechanism, it may be further expanded and is open for member states to join with new initiatives to promote the development of the Syunik region.

The Europe Day celebration in Goris served as a platform to spotlight the impactful projects of the Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative.

Attendees enjoyed a range of activities tailored for all ages, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity. Notably, participants had the opportunity to engage with key figures such as the EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, and Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan, who shared insights into the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable development.

EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, mentioned: “Over a year ago we have announced about Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative. We are pleased that EU, and its member states, as well as Switzerland and the European Investment Bank have joined efforts to leverage a greater transformational impact for the benefit of people of Syunik. 37 projects with a total budget of EUR 125 million, are currently implemented under the umbrella of Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative focusing on private sector development, green agriculture promotion and support, skills development through vocational and non-formal education, improving municipal capacities and services including community-based social and health series, enhancing municipal infrastructure and enabling application of energy efficient solutions, supporting citizen participation and sustainable management of natural resources.”

The event underscored the significance of the Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative in catalyzing positive change and fostering partnerships for the sustainable development of the Syunik region.
