Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding

A Memorandum of Understanding on Implementation of Component 2 of the R2D Syunik project: Recovery, Resilience, Development for Syunik, was signed among Austrian Development Agency, Staff of Syunik Marzpet and Heads of 7 Communities of Syunik, in Syunik Regional Government Office.

R2D Syunik project, co-funded by the European Union and the Austrian Development Cooperation and implemented within the Resilient Syunik Team Europe initiative in cooperation with local governments is to enhance recovery and resilience of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and sustainable small-scale communal infrastructure in Syunik.

Within the framework of Component 2: Improved availability of sustainable, green community infrastructures, it is planned to implement the construction or improvement of around 25 small green communal infrastructure projects in the 7 communities of Syunik, with the estimated budget of 1.91 million Euros.

Currently the installation works of solar photovoltaic systems have already started in Sisian (90 kW) and Tegh (80 kW) communities.

A similar system is planned to be installed in the city of Kapan. There are number of other projects in the planning and discussion stage, such as the construction of potable water supply system in Lehvaz village of Meghri community and Tegh village, installation of street lighting system on the road connecting Tegh-Karashen villages, as well as installation of a small hydro-electric plant on the existing irrigation system in Khndzoresk and renovation of administrative building and new kindergarten area in Shaki village.

The small infrastructure projects are scheduled for implementation over the next 2 years.
